So read on and start planning your next getaway!

Tip #01: Do Your Research on Our Site

The first step in finding the perfect cannabis-friendly lodging for your trip is to do your research. This means knowing what you’re looking for and what’s available in your destination of choice. Are you looking for a hotel that is 420-friendly? Or perhaps you’re interested in renting a private home or apartment that allows smoking on the premises.

You want to make sure that the place your wanting to stay at is actually cannabis friendly. Where is it allowed to smoke? In the room? Outside in a smoking area? These things can make or break a fun 420 vacation. Whatever your preference, make sure to research all of your options before making a decision.

Tip #02: Read Online Reviews

Once you’ve narrowed down your options, it’s time to start reading online reviews. These can be extremely helpful in determining whether or not a particular property is right for you. Be sure to read both positive and negative reviews, as they can both provide valuable insights.

Now remember that negative reviews are more common and some are downright mean and contain false information. Because someone had a dirty room, they may exaggerate to make the problem a lot worse then what it was. Just be skeptical at some bad reviews that have too much generalization to them. Look for detailed reviews that cover the what, why and who with specific reasons for the positive or negative review.

Tip #03: Ask Around, Get Ideas from Others

If you know anyone who has traveled to your destination before, and booked a 420 friendly room? Be sure to ask for their recommendations. What did they like and dislike? Do they know of a better place? They may know of a great cannabis-friendly lodging option that you didn’t find in your initial research.

Tip #04: Contact the Property Directly

This step is imperative! Once you’ve found a few potential options, it’s time to start contacting the properties directly. Be sure to ask about their policies regarding cannabis use on the premises. In our experience many hotels have changed owners or policies and might not be cannabis friendly anymore.

We try to always show you updated, vetted information here. But things can be missed or changed soon after our verification process. Always check.

Some places may be open to it while others may have strict rules against it. It’s important to get this information upfront so that there are no surprises later on.

Tip #05: Make a Reservation ASAP

Once you’ve found the perfect cannabis-friendly lodging for your trip, it’s time to make a reservation. Be sure to do this as early as possible, as popular places can fill up quickly. When it comes to smoking rooms, there are only a handful of them, then even less of smoking rooms that allow cannabis. So booking as early as you can will help to alleviate that stress from your planning.

Having a vetted cannabis friendly place to sleep, hang out and relax in is key to a worry free cannabis friendly vacation.

Tip #06: Pack Your Essentials

If you’re planning on consuming cannabis during your stay, be sure to pack all of your essentials. This includes things like grinders, pipes, lighters, and any other supplies you may need.

Just be sure that the things you pack don’t run afoul of and rules, laws or regulations in your journey. A pipe or item that has been used for cannabis is now technically paraphernalia. So be careful and do your research about that before you pack it.

The general recommendation is to buy a cheap throw away pipe when you get to your destination so you can get rid of it before you leave back home. You can also buy rolling papers and disposable THC oil vape pens as well.

Additionally, it’s always a good idea to bring along some snacks and drinks in case you get the munchies while you’re away from home. Airport snacks are highly marked up.

Tip #07: Follow the Rules

When staying at a cannabis-friendly lodging property, it’s important to follow the rules that are in place. This includes things like not smoking in non-smoking areas, being respectful of other guests, and disposing of your roaches, ash and old containers properly.

Some hotels we have listed only let you smoke outside in designated areas, some allow it in the room, others say only on the balconies. Just be mindful of where you consume.

There have been travelers fined for smoking outside but the smell drifted into the room, or on a few occasions a container of some dank buds was left open on the desk, and smelled up the room, leading to a cleaning fee.

Be aware and mindful of everything when smoking on property.

Tip #08: Keep It Low Key

While you’re enjoying your stay, be sure to keep things low key. Don’t smoke in front of children or people who may not like the smell. Don’t assume everyone is 420 friendly. Try not to get all loud and annoying when your getting stoned. Talking loudly because your high is some stoners downfall.

If you cough a lot in your sessions, then keep some liquids near by to help cool your throat. No one likes to hear someone coughing up a lung for 10 minutes.

Tip #9: Where to get your Supplies

Knowing where to pick up some supplies is a great thing to plan. Having a near by recreational dispensary is a nice thing. Having one within walking distance is even better. So if possible, try to get you cannabis friendly lodging near a dispensary to help make your trip cheaper and easier for you.

Tip #10: Enjoy Yourself!

Above all else, remember to relax and enjoy yourself! After all, that’s what vacations are all about. So kick back, light up a joint, and have a great time.
